READY TO EXPERIENCE UGANDA?
Day 1: Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park
Drive time: approximately 5–6 hours
Your Angara driver-guide welcomes you in Entebbe and begins the scenic journey west into Uganda’s green countryside. Stop for lunch en-route, with opportunities for photographs of tea estates, crater-lake landscapes, and the Rwenzori foothills as you approach Kibale.
Arrive at your forest lodge, settle in, and receive a briefing on the week ahead: chimpanzee and gorilla trekking etiquette, what to pack, safety, and the conservation impact of your visit.
Chimpanzees and Bigodi Community
Track habituated chimpanzees in Kibale Forest with Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Look out for other primates, birds, butterflies, and rainforest plants along the trail.
In the afternoon, explore Bigodi Wetland and its surrounding community with local guides. Learn about conservation, crafts, traditional livelihoods, and the area’s rich birdlife and monkeys.
After breakfast, drive south through the Fort Portal region, passing crater lakes, tea plantations, rural villages, and views of the Rwenzori Mountains.
Arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, check in, and enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, lions, and other savannah wildlife
Begin with an early-morning game drive when wildlife is most active. Explore the Kasenyi plains and look for lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, and warthogs.
In the afternoon, take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel. See hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and a remarkable variety of waterbirds close to the shoreline.
Travel south through Ishasha, a wildlife-rich sector known for its tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a game drive while looking for lions, elephants, buffaloes, topi, and other plains animals.
Continue to Bwindi’s highlands for a Batwa cultural experience. Meet community members through storytelling, music, dance, crafts, and discussion of their traditional connection to the forest.
After a ranger briefing, trek through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to locate a habituated mountain-gorilla family. The route and duration depend on the family’s location and guests’ trekking ability.
Spend the permitted hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat, then return to the lodge for rest, a hot shower, and a celebratory farewell dinner.
Leave Bwindi after breakfast and drive back toward Entebbe through the Kigezi Highlands and western Uganda’s scenic countryside. Stop for lunch during the journey.
Pause at the Equator for photographs where time permits, then continue to Entebbe Airport for an evening flight or an optional overnight stay.
